Our Classes

Phonics 1,2,3

This series is appropriate for beginner and early readers, ages 5-7. It teaches all the 42 letter sounds in English. The program’s strength is that it encourages independent reading and writing. It also introduces tricky or high-frequency words that need to be memorized. The child’s ability to blend sounds together when reading is developed. As well, children are encouraged to segment words apart when spelling. The short vowel sounds and the alternative spellings of the long vowel sounds are also introduced.

Specifically, alternative spelling of vowels such as ai, ea and consonant blends such as sh, ch etc. are taught. The following parts of speech: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs are introduced. Through this program, the child improves their reading and spelling ability and develops knowledge of the basic sentence structure.

Grammar 2
